Elphaba's long-awaited meeting with the Wizard reveals his true nature as a charlatan. Realizing his role in the oppression of the Animals, she decides to oppose his regime. This act of defiance leads to her being labeled as the "Wicked Witch" by the Wizard and Madame Morrible.
The film culminates with Elphaba embracing her identity, casting a levitation spell on a broom, and soaring into the sky, defiantly declaring her independence and resistance against tyranny. This iconic scene is powerfully accompanied by the song "Defying Gravity."
